Stuff [General] — Michael @ 9:00 am

I have some time to kill before court this morning, so…

Two weeks ago we hiked the Peak.  14,110 feet of Pikes Peak.  14 miles round trip.  Lots to say, not enough time to say it.  Fun.  Brutal.  Painful.

Today I biked to work, and it was easy.  Took about two minutes longer than driving.  City-wide bike-to-work day, so I wasn’t alone, but I plan on doing this much more frequently this summer.  It’s just a matter of planning ahead and having ironed shirts waiting for me at work.

And avoiding the rain.

  1. While in CO Springs during the summer of 2003, my group decided to hike one of the foothills of Pikes Peak. As we prepared our ascent, a young lady started running up the trail. We thought, “Well, if she can run, then we shouldn’t have any problems with a leisurely walk.” After two hours and a couple of miles, we looked and felt like roadkill. We decided to take a much needed break at the halfway point. That’s when the young lady came running back down the trail; she wasn’t even sweating. Wordlessly, we turned around then and there. We spent the rest of the day hydrating in the air conditioned hotel.

    Good luck with the training.
